Not knowing when to join the server is one thing.

Having an exam coming up in May is another related thing.

Yeah server has had a knock back seems I've been busy with exams, we will be buying a host in a few days for 24/7 server. :)

Staff Applications / NO REPOSTING
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:51:39 pm »
Once you have been denied, you are denied. Don't repost because that will only make it worse for you.

Say we need some extra staff a month later due to rising server population or if some staff leave, we might go back and take a look at the old applications and choose someone who we know has matured as a player and would -at that time- be a good staff candidate.

I am not saying that this will definately happen, it is just a possibility.

So basically: only post ONE application, we dont delete them we just archive them in the closed section. This means they are always available to us if the need arises.

Thank you for co-operating.

Staff Applications / Staff Application Format
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:50:18 pm »
There are too many applications that lack effort and structure so I am putting this small template together for the benefit of everyone.

There are also a few ground rules when it comes to being a staff member, these are:
1. You have to be at least 12 years old. We prefer mature staff we can trust with powerful commands.
2. Common sense. We won't give powers to people who we think are going to go ban for no apparent reason.
3. If you become a staff member, you can not have prejudices e.g. Giving items to friends and then abusing power on people you dont like. As a staff member your point of view has to be neutral and you must be prepared to take action despite your relationship with the player in question.
4. You need to be active on Skype so we can interview you. I recommend becoming active on Skype beforehand and gaining a reputation in the server.

Template: You can either answer as single questions or word it into a paragraph, your choice.

Title e.g. 'Iain - Mod application'. or 'Mod application -Iain'. (same goes for Moderator applications) This is so we can organise and sort the applications easily.

In-game name:

Name (optional):

Age: (must be 12 or older)

Time playing minecraft:

Time playing on this server:

Do you have any previous experience as a minecraft mod/admin?

Why do you want to become a staff member?

How can you contribute to the server as a staff member?

What plugins and commands are you familiar with?

How often do you play minecraft?

Provide a list of players that can vouch (agree to you being Staff) for you and get them to reply to your application.

Do you have Skype? And how often can you be online.

Your application may be moved but this does not mean that we have denied you, it just means we are either organising the threads or we are reviewing it elsewhere.

Good luck and use this template wisely.

Announcements! / Account Theift
« on: April 24, 2012, 08:45:00 pm »
So I decided to put this post up due to the recent events that have happened on the server. As some of you know we had a bug that allowed some one to log in as an admin account that has since been corrected. This has also put in a system to alert the staff members to an extent. I just wanted to throw a few things out there so you are very aware of what will happen.

1. If you steal ("Hack") some ones account there is a good chance you will be banned. I have logs of EVERY THING including the IP address you registered with, last logged in with and the last log in for the persons account you "hacked". Just because you know the person it doesn't mean to "hack" their account by doing a password recovery then changing their password.
2. This one is funny. Logging into my account or any other staff members account is a perm IP ban and any other accounts that have to do with your IP address are also banned. Saying "My brother did it!!!!!" does not mean CRAP TO ME! They know who we are from playing on the server, or watching you while you play. I work for Xbox where we deal with "hacked" accounts all the time. The punishment is the highest you can get with in our server.

You ask, What if they never sign up for an account. The answer to that is simple. I can ban your IP without an account. Try me .

LIVESTREAMS!?!?!?!!?

So I was thinking this morning about LiveStreaming with a few of my friends, then I thought of an awesome idea!

While events are taking place I could LiveSteam it straight to Twitch.tv.

This will need to be tested first but maybe in about 2 weeks we could start our first LiveStream!

Remember, if you wish to be in the LiveStreams, remember to post events and say you're comming! :D

See you In-game soon guys! :)

Griefing

Current Definition : As it is on the server, Griefing is a blanket term used to describe the destruction of a persons area that is not their own. As a whole it is used to describe the destruction of personal property on the server by adding or removing blocks. This is an immediately bannable offense. The word in whole, is used similar to a slang word. Ex. "You are a griefer" or "My house has been griefed"

Griefing can also be described as modifying an existing users structure against his or her permissions should he own that plot of land or structure.

What is a person's "area"?
A player may claim an area being what they have built on, their structure itself, or any land appropriately marked off by fences, walls, signs, etc. An area is defined as being from bedrock to sky limit. In general a user is responsible for restricting access to any areas that he or she does not wish the public to explore.
(Roofs, walls, fences and doors people, were you raised in a barn?![no offense to those raised in barns (seriously though, think about it)]).
If you have read the Marking Territory guidelines, you will notice that you cannot build within 15 blocks of individuals, and 40 blocks of cities.

Within city limits, it may be required that you only build within your plots and therefore you would be breaking city ordinances. You do not have the right as an owner of the plot, to modify anything else in the city that the city owner did not give permission for. The plot is your area; the rest of the city is the city maker's area (besides other plots owned by other players).

If someone is in your home in an area that you would not like them to be, restrict your building so that they cannot access it. While it may cause you to feel harassed you ought to consider hiding your stuff in better areas, or buying a vault. A user is not responsible for making you "nervous".

But what if I just want to look around?
It doesn't matter if you have no ill will, breaking or placing blocks in someone else's area is not allowed. If they don't want you in their area and have sufficiently blocked you from just walking in, then you cannot modify anything to enter. Even though it holds no ill will, and you may repair the damage afterwards, it is still griefing and will get you banned.

What can I modify?
Any land that is unclaimed you can modify, but not if you're doing so in order to gain access to another player's area. For example, you cannot dirt pillar outside someone's fence in order to jump over it. That is considered griefing, and you will be banned. Similarly, you cannot dig below someone else's area either. You're also not allowed to build around another player in order to block them off. (Donut clause)

What if I accidently grief?
If it is an accident, the staff will follow it up with an investigation. Things like accidently smashing glass while fighting will get you warned, and you'll need to replace the glass. Similarly, accidently busting into someone else's mine is wrong, but if you patch it up and leave without taking advantage of the hole you made ( to steal or kill or w/e) you will not be held as a griefer. However, using any 'accident' as an advantage to enter an area, steal or kill another player will be labelled as griefing and get you banned. If you accidently mined underneath someone's area while generally mining in deep caves, then you can call a staff member to come show you exactly where you need to block off your mine. Doing this once will get you a warning, multiple offences will get you banned. Keep track of where you are mining, be aware of what other buildings are around you and at what coordinates they are so you don't accidently do this. (Press F3 to see coordinates x and z are the directional while y is the vertical coordinate).

Ok the run down

Destroying someone elses property : Griefing
Destruction of property - Bannable
Modifying someone elses property without permission : Griefing
Illegal modification (overbuilding on a plot, etc) - warning then bannable
Building over in order to get into someone's area: Griefing
Digging into someone's area: Griefing

Dont destroy peoples home...
Be courteous of other users...
Respect their wishes and boundaries. (goes with the courteous)...
Be creative...
Overall have fun.

Server Rules! / Server Rules: Read and follow
« on: April 17, 2012, 03:20:01 pm »
Not following them can result in a Perma Ban if you keep breaking the rules. No matter how small or large the offense is.
We do not tolerate breaking rules.
Some Mods or Admins are more forgiving or harsher than others.

1) Do not Grief
Breaking structures.
Adding onto structures you don't own or blocking an area on purpose.
Breaking glass that you did not place.
Placing water tiles or lava tiles in random locations to disrupt the area.
Placing massive amounts of duplicated items like diamond or gold blocks. [Also falls under duping]
One block towers or pits to the bottom of the world just to trap people.
Breaking chests and leaving floating items.
Making contraptions that, or throwing them yourself, make items to float on the ground. [Lags the server]
Breaking bamboo/sugarcanes, trees, or cactii that belong to someone (in claimed area)
Ladders are sometimes an exception. Read on them here!
Mining tunnels under other people's lands.

Do not grief your friends as a prank, as it will still get you jail.

1a) Only help people in their base if they ASK for it.
Do not build or mine around someones area or in someones area they have outlined and took the time to construct. If they ask you not to to build near their buildings or city, this is something you must respect. The map is big, you can take five minutes to find a new location.

1b) Do not grief in order to Steal
Stealing is permitted, seeing as you do not grief to get at the items. If you break any blocks, or place anything on the home or its property to get in, you will be banned. This includes building sky bridges over the home to drop in or to try to jump in, or tunneling underneath.

1c)Mines are an exception to the normal griefing rule.
If you enter someone's underground base having busted through natural material (smoothstone), then you need to leave, and repair it as best as possible. You will not be held responsible for griefing since there is no way you could have known a claimed area lay beyond. HOWEVER, players are not allowed to use that entry to go rob and steal from people's bases or bust up the rest of their walls in their base once you know its there. Doing so you will be treated as a griefer and illigitmate thief.

2) Do not exploit glitches, duplicate items, hack, or modify client
Things that fall into this category include, but are not limited to:
Speed hacks
Duplicating items via the chest or inventory glitch
Duplicating items via unsynchronized rollback to inventory error [A roll back occurs, and the item is still in your chest, and in your inventory
Use a see-through texture pack to locate ores, mossy cobble or chests, or any specific block type.
Spawning items via a cheat client
Logging in twice or more on the same account name.
Keeping and not returning Admin spawned items for a project they asked you to do.
Using F3 to see through walls to find caverns/dungeons
Using any method to exploit and not play the game naturally. (Logging in and out to see chunks load in to find things, etc)
Using redstone dust to make an obsidian generator
Being on the receiving end of hacked or duped items or posessing them will also land you in trouble. If someone hands you stacks of diamonds, its a red flag that they are duped. Report it to an admin and hand it over ASAP!

3) Do not create vulgar or offensive structures
Do not build or write signs that contain any thing that could be construed as vulgar or offensive.

4) Don't be annoying on purpose
Do not harass players.
If a player asks you to leave their area, leave. (Needs to be for an extended time and actually count toward harassment, not pvp or stealing aspect)
Do not type in caps.
Do not spam chat.
Do not curse excessively.
5) Do not disrespect admins or players
If an Admin or Mod tells you something, you listen. This is not a debate, this is not your server. Just because you do not agree with them, does not give you the right to argue.
Do not curse at the staff or other players insultingly.
Do not talk back rudely to a staff member.
When one staff tells you no, do not keep asking other staff members.
Impersonating staff in any form or medium
There is ZERO tolerance on the use of SLURS. Do not use them! EVER!

6) Do not beg staff for items
Begging an admin for items like coal or smooth stone is not permitted. If you need help, they will generally help you if you are nice about it. We are a friendly bunch of people, but don't push us.

7) Do not advertise other servers
Posting the IP, thread, or website of another server is not allowed, and will get you instantly banned.

8) Do not beg for higher position
Do not beg to be promoted, the staff will consider applications at our own pace. Begging to go up to a higher rank will probably only get you denied, or even demoted if you keep it up.

9) Do not use an alternate account to circumvent your ban.
Using an alternate account to get around your ban will get you permanently I.P. banned.

Oh, and um, is your server on 24/7 or sometimes?

If the server includes TMI and WorldEdit, then repairing is an advantage, as well as possible arenas to be created... that's if I'm inspired enough.

Also, I seem to find difficulty connecting to your server. I'm not sure if the IP add I inserted is right.

Server is sometimes until we find a cheap host.

The IP is 5.3.26.102:25565
YOU NEED HAMACHI.

We have WorldEdit and you can install TMI into your client easily. :)
