Lag issues

If you are having problems on our server concerning lag, this page is for you.

As most of you know, lag can be very annoying, weather it may be FPS lag, or connection lag. There are a number of steps that we can recommend that you take to try and reduce the lag.

For reducing the FPS lag you should:

Close any programs that you're not using and that could be taking up CPU and Memory.

Also make sure that all of your Drivers are up to date, and make sure Java is at the latest version!

If you have done step one and you are still experiencing lag this is the next step you should follow:

Right click on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen and click on "Start Task Manager".
When it opens, click "applications" and find Minecraft.
When you have found Minecraft, right click on it and select "Go To Process".
In the big list of Processes Minecraft will be highlighted as "Javaw.exe".
Right click Javaw.exe and press "Set Priority" and change this to High.
Doing this will focus most of your memory and CPU usage to Minecraft, hopefully reducing your lag.  8)

Maximising speed for Minecraft:

To reduce you lag a bit more, you should hit the Start Button and go to Control Panel.
When the Control Panel has opened, the the search box provided type, "Performance" then click on "Performance information and tools".
On the left-hand side you should see "Adjust visual effects". Click on that.
Then when the box opens up select "Adjust for best performance"
Click apply and wait for the changes to be made. This will put your computer appearance into classic mode, but will drastically reduce lag.
Click ok, and you're done.

And if you REALLY want to get that extra 5 fps, Go into task manager>processes>explorer.exe and end the process. To bring it back up, go into the applications tab, click new task.. Write explorer.exe, hit enter, and your taskbar and everything else should pop-up.

For Connection lag, things are very different as it is not your computer that is causing the lag, it's either your connection speed or the Host's connection speed.

There is no real fix for connection lag and you may just have to buy faster internet or hope your speeds improve.  :'(
